The Roddys are a singular group from Madison, Wisconsin, that combines the timeless sounds of old-time country blues with mountain harmony singing. Their newest release, A Night 0f Deep Nostalgia, is a true gem, and one of the best recordings you are likely to hear this year. Oasis Acoustic agrees, and has included the music of the Roddys on their recent CD compilation.

Georgia native Doc Roddy's songwriting is right on target--hard to distinguish from the time-tested traditional songs. Terre Roddy's wonderful singing has a soulful power as old as the hills. At the heart of their sound is Doc's rock-solid guitar playing, true to form whether on slide, acoustic, or National resonator. When he and Terre sing together, their voices deliver a deep Southern soul that is impossible to resist. They currently tour with Chris Powers, whose punchy mandolin weaves through and around Doc's rich guitar work. Combined with Terre's seamless upright bass playing, the trio creates rhythms reminiscent of New Orleans, or maybe Memphis in the Fifties.

Doc & Terre met in Minneapolis, married and sang together in the California hills of Mendocino County, before returning to Terre's home in Wisconsin. In Madison, they honed and refined their sound while rehearsing for their first recording, Our Most Elaborate Lie, which included blues great Jim Schwall on bass and Chris on mandolin.
